PROUD MOMENTS

Are you ready for some bragging?? Good! Because here goes....I got the best birthday present last night by my daughters.
H-Computer Award, Volleyball, and Perfect Attendance
J-Science Award, Spanish award, citizenship, student council, cheerleading, track and perfect attendance (J is also now captain of the MS cheerleaders.)
B-Perfect Attendance
See a pattern? Good! While some parents make fun of me for insisting my children not miss school for ANYTHING, I continue to do what I think is best and MAKE them go. Now there are exceptions....such as bleeding internally and so forth and so on.....
After all my children received their much deserved awards....DH and I were recognized as being dedicated parents because ALL three of our children were PERFECT ATTENDANCE. Again-not a big deal to SOME. But it is to us. Six students received perfect attendance for all of middle school...and three of them were MINE. And FINALLY in front of my friends and family -Doug and I were recognized for our EVIL ways! But-we are not the type to brag-oh now-who am I kidding?
I am currently on a *mommy high.* J obviously holds a special place in my heart and my eyes were brimming with tears as I hooted and hollered like I was at a rock concert as she accepted her awards. I was a little more quiet with H because she gets embarrassed. I don't care if J gets embarrassed or not-I am her mother and it is my right! :) They all looked so pretty and I was rightfully proud.
Now-ask me if I had perfect attendance?? hee hee That was usually the only award I received growing up! But hey-higher expectations for the kids-right?
So-today is my birthday and so far it has been a great one. A good friend made me a cake called *Better than Sex* cake. And...it is close. Special gifts and cards. COLD HARD CASH from my hubby! LOL We helped chaperone H's 8th grade party at the YMCA. I am exhausted, but when you are on a *mommy high* you get over it. LOL
Yesterday was the last day of school and as always, it was bittersweet. I had some students crying as I did and I am sure they will keep in touch with me. :) I was close to this class because I had most of them in first grade. I did get to meet my new class for next year because we had *move up day* and I am already looking forward to next year. I had some of them in first grade and I am sure I will have another fantastic year. :)
My birthday is off to a great start...a lot of wonderful family and friends!! The only thing that will be missing today and from now on is my dad calling me and wishing me happy birthday-he NEVER forgot. I will miss talking to him or hearing his loving message on my machine. I wish now I would have saved those messages. :(
This does not end my birthday month. I have 12 more days. I have several friends that I share the month with though! :)
