LIFE AS I KNOW IT IN JULY and a small part of August....

IS OVER!
Last year at this time-I titled my BACK TO SCHOOL post BACK TO THE GRIND. And well...that is what this is....tomorrow is the end of sleeping in, staying up, hanging out in jammies drinking coffee and reading in bed while watching reruns of "The Nanny" and "The Golden Girls". Wondering if I should call a friend for lunch or watch "Day of Our Lives" or *oh I wonder if I have any email*-I will just check. And I can always throw that load of laundry in later...and ironing-nonexistent in July. And I will just dust something while casually talking on the phone-and don't forget to water my flowers of course.
This year is sooooooooooo different for me. I am working in a new to me yet VERY OLD building. I must say I am finally happy with my classroom thanks to my wonderful, fabulous, great looking while he is doing it and very handy dandy husband. He single handedly gutted out a wall, replaced it with brick panneling (to go with my graffiti theme)-put shower board where old chalkboards used to be and simply made my room a better place to be for me and my students. I do not always appreciate him like I should (especially yesterday while not so nicely telling him this should have been done by now although it wasn't his fault)! He is always there for me. Helping me and consoling me. And along with him comes oldest stepdaugther who reminds me of him in that way...she painted all my trim and shelves and then helped me hang up bulletin boards. I love daughter J and stepdaugther B-but they are simply not interested in physical labor -like me but they will be helping me clean-they just may not know it yet. :) This room is now a room I can be proud of. If only I have before and after pics! ARRGH! But-there will be AFTER pics soon-you just won't know how far it has come.
I am not nervous like I thought I would be. I am where I need to be. I have been looking at the curriculum and feeling more comfortable with it( after stressing countless hours) and I plan to have another successful year. :)
I should be in bed now...but I am simply not tired-hmmmmmmmmmm....so I will tell you about my new wardrobe. While going on my usual Sunday outing with Jean1-I hit the big sales at J.C. Penneys-70% off sales and it was friend/family day so an additional 20% off of that. I bought 13 items for $92.00!! And they are so cute! I came home and like an excited school girl went through my closet and pulled out some other clothes that will mix and match with my new things...then I had to iron all those things-ugh-and now I am pleased. And of course I have bought several pair of new shoes for my wardrobe online....I have discovered BIRKENSTOCKS AND TEVAS. I will save that for another blog.
MUST.GO.TO. BED!

Oh that is so much fun. I need a job so I can go shopping for myself and not feel like I am pulling food out of my children's mouths. Hopefully soon....
Your room sounds really cool. Good luck w/ 6th grade. I know you will do an excellent job!

I can totally understand the new room in an old building. I spent yesterday taking down old chalkboards, hanging white boards, putting up curtains to cover ugly liquid nail covered, painted windows and making things look nice. I have less than 24 hours to go and still a lot of work to do but I took a few minutes to check in on the friend I miss so much and I didn't even know SC had given birth! missing you all but excited on my new adventure,
