May officially begins my birthday month. I have always joked about this and when I say this-I truly mean JOKE. All my friends and family are used to hearing it and even play along sometimes for fun. But-this year I might have went a little too far....I might have mentioned to my students that May is my birthday month once or twice AS A JOKE. So this morning, I was greeted with a banner, strawberry cake ( my favorite), chocolate cupcakes, doritos, soda, cards and gifts!! WOW! This is what I get for JOKING! I must admit-I was flattered. The problem was the last thing I wanted to do was celebrate my b-day 16 days early. Yes-for those of you that need to know-May 19 is my BIRTHDAY! So-I put on my happy face, thanked them all and we simply enjoyed the party. Since May is the end of the school year, we are a little more relaxed anyway!
Someone special was born on May 1 (the beginning of my b-day month) and I am willing to give up this day for him. He is a sweet and precious baby boy born to one of my best friends. Mom is doing well and baby is in neonatal. I know he will be fine-but all prayers are appreciated. I will be glad to see him come home (as they are also my neighbors and coworkers) and HOLD THAT BABY! :)
Life is so precious. That is why I believe in CELEBRATING BIRTHDAYS!!

You have heard the saying....The squeaky wheel gets the oil. Well, you've been squeaking about your birthday month for a LONG TIME...But at least it was sweet that they had a chance to give you a party...that way you don't have to mess with all the well wishes on your actual day. LOL
I will wait to wish you a happy b-day on the correct day. :) I am glad your students did something special for you. It always made me feel like I must be doing something right when the kids did nice things for me, and their parents actually pitched in as well. The group of kids you have are pretty good. They were our first group of first graders. Ahhhh how sweet! But you already knew that!
I LOVE this idea of "Birthday Months"! What a wonderful thing for people like me...Procrastinators. I always am struggling with remembering BirtDAYS. If this idea could just catch on, the pressure would be off! I could pick any one of the 30/odd days of the month to show someone I care. Yippee!
But, now that I think about it, I would probably still be late with my Birthday Wishes. I would still procrastinate. :-)

I thought you reserved my Birthday day as well. How rude for not mentioning it. :) May 2nd is NOT reserved for your birthday month but for my day. :)

I agree with Shawna #2-Many important people were born in this month....like my little Jenna who will be 1 on Friday. But I have to say that every November I celebrate my birthday MONTH! I am just as bad as you and I do expect gifts! I am glad that Little "P" is doing well now and might get to come home today so we can all hold him!
