Jean2 here with a deep breath and some relief to share. I am loving my teaching job. I have decided 5th grade is where I need to be. Of course I only have 3 days of experience and we are in the HONEYMOON period but it is such a nice and refreshing change. First grade was fun and rewarding but physically draining. I enjoy how I can joke with my 5th graders and relate to them more. They appreciate it when I read chapter books out loud to them, they roll their eyes (not disrespectfully) when I am sarcastic with them. I am okay with eye rolling as long as it is NOT in the middle of a lesson or lecture. After all, I am an eye roller! I also am developing an appreciation for the new principal. She came in with a lot of different ideas that were upsetting at first. I was already dealing with enough change. But I have noticed when I talk to her about something (which I often do)-she does listen and see where I am coming from . What more can you expect from your boss? Of course she wants it her way. I would. And I do believe in "respecting my authority." I myself am thinking of going back in two years to get my Masters in Administration. Just a goal but nothing is ever in STONE ( meaning- I am free to change my mind at any point and time and just be a stay at home mom and hang out with Jean1 and my other SAHM friends). I know I could be a good principal. I just need to get motivated and prepare myself for MORE of a drastic change and of course the thesis-EEEEEKKKK! That terrifies me! hmmmm...maybe I will try it in three years?LOL I am 34 now and I would like to have my Masters by the time I am 40. Now that is ambition. hehe 6 years?? So-all is well in the world of Jean2. I am going to play tennis with Jean1 tomorrow. This is our regular Sunday date and I look forward to it. It is a great time with a friend while relieving some stress with some much needed exercise. Jeanwannabe-want to make a tennis date?? I need the practice. Jean1 is getting better! We play for Starbucks mocha frappucinos and I can't wait to win one tomorrow-bring it on Jean1!

I'm so glad you're loving 5th grade - I knew you'd be a hit!
And I'm with Jean Wannabe...I've never been invited to play tennis EITHER. I don't have a racket and have never played, but STILL.
Jean 1 here...come on ladies...we could always play doubles!
