Jean 1 here...
Yesterday was a great/sad/poignant/exciting/bittersweet day. Yep, the kids went back to school. Here's how the day played out...
6am: I wake up to find that Niki is in the bath already, Ryan is dressed, has teeth brushed and is wearing his backpack and Bria is dressed and ready to go, only waiting on me to flat iron her hair. (School starts at 8 for Bria and 8:45am)
7am: Remind Ryan that he can't get into school for another hour and a half and should eat some breakfast. Flat iron Bria and then Niki's hair.
7:30am: Drive Bria to school...a five minute drive.
8:15 am: Drive Niki and Ryan to school....Christi is now awake and dressed for day. Drop Niki off at school and then take Ryan to his school. Christi is now sad that she has to leave and Ryan gets to stay.
9am: Take Christi home, rest a little
11:30 am-2:20pm : head to lunch with Ruth and another friend and then Target to do some looking (dangerous, I know...but found some good deals and Ryan has to go back into a booster for a year so had to buy one) and then it was time to pick Bria up from school.
The rest was filled with making dinner, signing all my homework (papers from the three different schools) and getting baths and kids to bed.
All went well for all of them. It is still hard to believe that I have a 7Th grader.
I am so glad to see them so excited about school. I always loved, loved, loved school. I got so excited at the first of the year hearing what we were going to learn and finding out what books we were going to read. I loved knowing that I was going to learn a lot of things I was interested in and also things that I wasn't interested in, but would benefit from knowing. I loved the interaction I got with others and the new friends I made. I loved the music classes and the chance to just be me and to have time in my classes with my own things to learn. Ryan echoed that very sentiment yesterday when I asked him how school was. "It was great! I had alone time with my friends!" We love his teacher, Niki had her for two years (she's a looping teacher) so we have been in great relationship with her for a long time. She knows my son really well, knows his learning styles and even better, loves him for who he is. My older two got really great and caring teachers as well. I am so thankful that God, who knows my children better than I ever could, always gives my children the teachers that will help them grow, will bless them in learning, and who truly cares about them. So, here's to a great year for all of us!
