I began the day in a rush to get everything necessary done before I had to report for Grand Jury selection. My second oldest was staying home sick, which provided a spur of the moment babysitter for Christi. Once I arrived to the courthouse I was sent through the security gate and then directed on to the jury selection room. After hours of questions and instructions and brief breaks I, along with 50 others, were ushered back into the courtroom to hear if we were released or retained for service. I.....was retained. :(
I am now obligated to serve my federal government for three days a month, each month until May 2009. Upon finding out I had been retained I was both disappointed and a bit worried. I still had yet to get Niki to the doctor and had to figure out the next couple of days for Christi to make it to school and get the kids to various activities.
I will try to write more about all of this tomorrow, but tonight...I have a migraine.

Crud! I've gotten out of jury duty two different times, but I REALLY wanted to be able to do it. I've always thought it would be so interesting. But, like you--having little kids makes it next to impossible. My heart goes out to you! Good luck with that!
I am like Kizzy72-I have always wanted to do jury duty. But I would get to double dip with my job and not worry about child care. So-when is your next day? 3 days a month? Will you get signifcant notice for those days? You will probably end up really enjoying it and learning a lot... a part of me has always wanted to be a lawyer. FUN! FUN!
